Kris Leck, Project Director

Kris has successfully managed over $1b in projects over 19 years.

Kris has been personally responsible for the delivery of a range of projects up to $80M, and has been a key member of the management of projects up to $600M. In order to ensure the successful completion of these projects it has been critical to engage and make accountable the multi-disciplinary teams including consultants, in-house team members, construction contractors, regulatory bodies and clients. These design teams often include more than 20 different specialist consultants, and any major project can have more than 40 disparate stakeholders, all with varying objectives and expectations. Kris has been responsible for ensuring that these stakeholders work together towards agreed objectives and outcomes, often to very restricted time frames.

Kris has developed well-rounded experience managing various major commercial projects. Following his first employment as a Contract Administrator with Kell & Rigby Builders, he established himself as a contractor to achieve wide-ranging experience with various Tier 1 & 2 Building Contractors. In 2005 Kris established his own commercial construction company with a $5,000 credit card and within 1 year was turning over $2M.

Kris is an accomplished expert in Client Representative Project Management, Contract Management, Construction Project Management, Design Management and managing pre-construction development phases.

With more than 19 years’ experience in the construction industry, Kris demonstrates exceptional proficiency in time & people resource management, and has acquired a strong commercial acumen.

  • Westend Apartments – Thirdi Group ($58M) – Under Construction Responsible for the design management and tender management prior to issuing a LOA The client reporting responsibilities included monitoring the projects cash flow, program, issues and risk registers, consultant RFI’s and all superintendent contract management responsibilities.
  • Beresford St Apartments ($37M)- Under Construction
    Managed the Approval Authority processes to deliver a Section 96 approval concurrently with Design Management. This process was completed to then provide the client with a Design and Construct contract and Construction Certificate within 3 weeks. The client was able to minimise hold costs and initiate the construction process in a timely manner.

    Project Manager in all procurement tasks and contract negotiations. Administered all head and sub- contracts GC21. Assisted Project Director with all head contract administration. Tracked budget, cost, scope and quality throughout the project to ensure the project’s commercial viability and alignment to stakeholder objectives. Ensured all commissioning and handover documentation was properly collated for the close out of the project.

EDUCATION SECTOR

  • Anatomy Building – University of Newcastle ($17M)
    The project required the design and construction of PC 2 compliant labs along with cadaver storage and embalming areas. The project provided for teaching spaces and offices. The security access to the building along with the design of the mechanical system provided a high level of risk to the client, which was managed throughout the project’s lifecycle.

    Project Manager responsible for the initiation and scope identification of the project. Developing and managing the design team. Managing design development and DA documentation through to tender evaluation and contract award. Administering the contract to successful commissioning and handover. Management of Level 3 design, predominately the alignment with the service provider’s guidelines (Ausgrid), the timing and delivery of certified documentation to progress the project to tender with other 100% complete design documents. The project contained many design challenges with reference to technical guidelines from the service provider.
